Aronia – also known as black chokeberry (aronia melanocarpa) – was already highly appreciated for their characteristics by the Native Americans. In Russia it is considered as a medicinal plant. Thus, the fruits contain, for example, the vitamins C and E, several B vitamins and minerals and trace elements such as potassium, calcium, magnesium and iron. Aronia is as rich in polyphenols and OPC as hardly any other berry. Compared with other red fruit juices, the aronia juice also has a very high total polyphenol content.
Pomegranates contain high-quality flavonoids in addition to vitamins and minerals. They provide, for example, minerals such as potassium and trace elements such as iron and B vitamins.
OPC - Oligomere Proanthocyanidine - are natural plant polyphenols. Antioxidants have great physiological significance due to their effect as free radical scavenger. They inactivate reactive oxygen species in the organism. If these reactive oxygen species appear in excess, this could lead to oxidative stress. This is considered to be partly responsible for the aging process and is also associated with the origin of a number of diseases. The ORAC value refers to the antioxidant capacity. So, the higher the ORAC value, the better, because the stronger is the antioxidant capacity of the measured product.
are well-known natural berries and herbs, which are partly used for centuries.
