Food Upgrade – smart nutrition with vital substances
Take a step towards elevating your nutrition to a new level – learn to use natural vital substances in a smart way.
Good health, naturally
Food Upgrade takes what is available to you from nature and industry and uses this as a nutritional basis. You will learn how to act smartly in order to use as many vital substances as possible in your nutrition. Chapter three contains an exciting guest contribution by nutritionist Prof. Andrea Maier-Nöth on the fact that children can also enjoy healthy food if you are patient and work with them from an early age. The next chapter takes a look inside the human body, and opens up new perspectives on the complex interplay between your digestion, your health and your diet. Finally, another dimension opens up: it’s not only what and how much you eat that influences your well-being, it’s also important when you eat. In addition, the book also present a few natural helpers i.e. nutritional and medicinal plants which can support you in leading a healthy lifestyle.

“From a young age, I was fascinated by the beauty of flowering plants, and I learnt most of the native species while I was still a young boy. While I later discovered a passion for ornithology, my botanical interest endured. During many trips to Europe, Israel, South Africa and Latin America, I deepened my scientific knowledge of plants. After studying biology and chemistry at the University of Bonn, I moved to the TU Braunschweig in 1977, where I completed my doctorate on the alkaloids in lupins. As a result, I was able to take a closer look at the chemistry of phytonutrients and discover a fascinating new world of medicinal plants and their active ingredients.”

“I have been interested in healthy eating all my life. After suffering several severe and sometimes extremely painful intestinal inflammations as a child, I had to live with the fact that healthy nutrition was not only very important but absolutely indispensable. I noticed early on that the individual foods I eat, and above all the way I combine the foods I eat, have a major impact on my health and well-being. Sport and exercise, as well as reducing my meat consumption, has helped me to get my intestinal problems under control."
